Nutrient Management in Recirculating Hydroponic Culture
نویسنده
چکیده
INTRODUCTION There is an increasing need to recirculate and reuse nutrient solutions in order to reduce environmental and economic costs. However, one of the weakest points in hydroponics is the lack of information on managing the nutrient solution. Many growers and research scientists dump out nutrient solutions and refill at weekly intervals. Other authors have recommended measuring the concentrations of individual nutrients in solution as a key to nutrient control and maintenance. Dumping and replacing solution is unnecessary. Monitoring ions in solution is not always necessary; in fact the rapid depletion of some nutrients often causes people to add toxic amounts of nutrients to the solution. Monitoring ions in solution is interesting, but it is not the key to effective maintenance.

Dynamics of microorganism populations in recirculating nutrient solutions.
This overview covers the basic microbial ecology of recirculating hydroponic solutions. Examples from NASA and Soviet CELSS tests and the commercial hydroponic industry will be used. The sources of microorganisms in nutrient solutions include air, water, seeds, plant containers and plumbing, biological vectors, and personnel. Microbial fates include growth, death, and emigration. Important micr...

In order to investigate the effect of different nutrient solutions on yield and potato minituber production under aeroponic and hydroponic culture, a split-plot experiment based on completely randomized design with three replications was carried out in 2015. The main factor was culture medium (aeroponic and hydroponic) and the sub-factors consisted of nutrient solution (control, Etazu, Etazu+ h...

HORTSCIENCE, VOL. 35(6), OCTOBER 2000 Consumer demand for fish has been increasing despite declining ocean fish catches. Aquaculture, the cultivation of freshwater and marine plants and animals, is one of the fastest growing segments of U.S. agriculture. In the period from 1987 to 1992, sales of farm-raised trout increased by almost 20% to over $80 million in the United States (Terlizzi et al.,...

Arabidopsis thaliana is a suitable model plant for genetic and molecular biology studies in higher plants. However, its hydroponic culture for biochemical and physiological studies is a challenge due to small size, capillary roots and little biomass at maturity. Several cultural systems have been suggested for Arabidopsis thaliana hydroponic culture, each having special advantages and disadvant...
متن کاملEffects of supplementary nutrient in an aquaponic system for production of ornamental red tilapia (Oreochromis Sp.) and lettuce (Lactuca sativa var longifolia)
Effects of supplementary nutrient in the production of red tilapia (Oreochromis sp) and Lettuce (Lactuca sativa var longifolia) evaluated in a representative water recirculating aquaculture system. The nutrient solution supplemented was 25% level of (L25) nutrient solution as medium used for aquaponic production of lettuce in the NFT system (based on cooper’s formula). Thus, a completely random...
